Embassy of India, Bangkok Celebrates ITEC Day 2025 with Alumni & Scholars
Bangkok, September 15, 2025 – The Embassy of India in Bangkok commemorated ITEC Day 2025 with an inspiring gathering of ITEC alumni, ICCR scholars, academics, and friends of India in Thailand.
The event was graced by H.E. Mr. Supachai Jaisamut, Former Vice Minister, Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation of Thailand, as the Chief Guest. He praised India’s role in international capacity development and emphasized closer collaboration between India and Thailand in agriculture, biotechnology, public health, artificial intelligence, space, and astronomy—sectors crucial to national and global progress.

Ambassador Nagesh Singh reiterated India’s commitment to knowledge-sharing and thanked Thailand for its steadfast partnership under the ITEC programme. He stressed the importance of deepening cooperation in education, training, and capacity building, while also exploring opportunities for joint collaboration in third countries. The Ambassador highlighted the role of ITEC alumni and scholars as “bridge-builders,” strengthening people-to-people ties.
Ms. Arunee Hiam, Deputy Director General at the Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA), underlined the significance of India–Thailand cooperation through ITEC in advancing shared development goals.
The evening also saw enthusiastic alumni testimonies from both civilian and defense sectors, sharing experiences of training in India. A vibrant Kathak dance performance by artists from the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre, Bangkok added cultural flair to the celebrations.
The successful event reflected not only India’s enduring commitment to the Global South but also the deep bonds of friendship, solidarity, and shared aspirations between India and Thailand.
