Conservative Activist Charlie Kirk Fatally Shot at Utah Valley University

Conservative activist and Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk was killed after being shot during an event at Utah Valley University, according to former President Donald Trump. Announcing the news on Truth Social, Trump called Kirk “great, and even legendary,” praising his dedication to mobilizing America’s youth.

The shooting occurred near the Orem campus food court as Kirk began addressing a rally. University officials confirmed the gunfire came from the Losee Center, about 200 yards away. “We can confirm Kirk was shot, but his condition is unknown,” said spokesman Scott Trotter shortly after the incident.

Footage verified by BBC shows Kirk jolting backward in his chair as students fled in panic. He was speaking under a tent labeled “THE AMERICAN COMEBACK,” moments after discussing U.S. gun violence and mass shootings, according to CBS reports.

The attack drew swift condemnation across the political spectrum. Attorney General Pam Bondi urged prayers, while California Governor Gavin Newsom called the act “disgusting” and pledged to oppose political violence. A former Utah congressman described the scene as chaotic, recalling, “Everyone hit the deck.”

At the White House, Trump’s staff reacted in shock, with one aide reportedly exclaiming, “Oh my god, Charlie Kirk has been shot!” The incident has triggered nationwide mourning, highlighting Kirk’s significant role in conservative youth activism. Authorities are investigating the circumstances of the shooting.
